Conquest of Yarmook

-Many muslims were killed in this battle.

-A letter arrived that AbuBakr (RA) had died and that Khalid (RA) is to step down from leadership and Abu Ubaydah is to take over.

-The change of leadership and death of AbuBakr was to be announced later as not to disrupt the progress.

-Ikrimah converted and promised to fight twice as much. His way of repentance was in these battles.

-After the battle, the news is announced about the leader change and death of AbuBakr.

AbuBakr's Death

"As you see, sickness has befallen me and I do not think this shall be other then my farewell...so nominate a leader foryourselves whom you wish. For verily if you choose the leader while I am still alive, it shall be more likely that you will not disagree after me." -AbuBakr (RA)

Legacy of AbuBakr: The Compilation of the Quran

-After 50+ Huffaz were killed in the Battle of Yamamah, AbuBakr had the idea to compile the Quran.

Kutab-al Wahi: Writers of the Revelations.

-Zaid Ibn Thabit was a key person in compiling the Quran. He had strict conditions:

1) 2 witnesses who memorized this verse from the Prophet (saw) with the exception of one sahaba, Abu Khuzaymah, who knew the last two verses of Surah-Tawbah but had no other 2 witnesses. His was accepted since the Prophet himself had said that his shahadah is equal to two.

-One of the last things he did was give away all the money he recieved to the Muslimeen.

-Umar (RA) was then nominated and his leadership was accepted.
